GHG Protocol
Scope 3 reporting with IMPT
How a sustainability team integrates IMPT booking data into Scope 3 Category 6 reporting.
Each IMPT booking generates a structured carbon-retirement record suitable for inclusion in Scope 3 Category 6 (business travel) reporting under the GHG Protocol.
What you report
Two numbers per booking: (a) the calculated room-night emissions using your standard methodology (typical 35-50 kg CO₂e per night), and (b) the IMPT voluntary retirement (1 tonne of UN-verified CO₂ per booking). Report (a) as gross emissions; report (b) separately as voluntary credits, per SBTi guidance.
Data export
Booking-level data is exportable monthly via CSV from your IMPT corporate dashboard. The CSV includes: booking ID, traveller, hotel, check-in/check-out, nights, retirement reference, on-chain transaction hash, and registry source.
Methodological notes
- IMPT's per-booking retirement is fixed at 1 tonne, regardless of nights or property. This means very long stays may be 'under-offset' relative to per-night room emissions — for compliance reporting, calculate per-night emissions separately.
- Credits sourced from UN-verified projects (UNFCCC CDM and equivalent registries). Project-level breakdown available on request.
- Retirement is on-chain and externally verifiable — superior provenance to typical voluntary-offset paperwork.
